On April 14, Muslim Family Services (MFS), a division of ICNA Relief USA, hosted a Spring BBQ at the Lapeer Park in Dearborn. Refugee families and other community members were welcomed to come and build strong community relationships.
The BBQ began at 4pm and about 100 refugees had attended. The men had occupied themselves with the BBQ, while the women sat together to share stories and the children played soccer on the field. The event was free of cost and intended as a gift for the community. With the in-kind donations from our donors, we were able to host a raffle for the families to win different prizes such as kitchen appliances and beddings. This brought much excitement to the families!
A huge thanks to the volunteers who took time from their Friday to make this event a success.
